Life can be so very tough. Who has not found themself in a difficult situation at one time or another? This song is a reminder of Gods goodness through it all, and how, like Shadrack, Mishak, and Abendigo … with Jesus, it is possible to come out of a fiery trial not smelling of smoke.
Isaiah paints a sad picture of a farmer who does everything for his vineyard to bear good grapes, but it only yields sour ones. This passage is so relevant to me cos I can see how easily I can start to endure lifes trails in my own strength, as if my God is not the same God who opened up the red sea, the God whose arm is outstretched on behalf of His people.
Looking back on my life, I see how many times the Lord saved me from becoming hardened and bitter by circumstances. Ever faithful to lead me on as I looked to Him.
I wrote this song as an encouragement to run to God everyday, to draw from Him in time of need, to let faith rise up in my heart in order to face life’s difficulties not on my own, but by His grace. To remind myself how each time I turned to Him, he was faithful to lift me up and give me strength to serve Him with each new day.
Some verses that inspired the song:
“He (God) brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.” Acts 7:36
“And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, Judge, please, between Me and My vineyard. What more could have been done to My vineyard That I have not done in it?” Isaiah 5: 3-4
